Chelsea are reportedly keeping close tabs on versatile right-sided midfielder Alessandro Florenzi’s contract situation at Italian giants AS Roma with an eye on making an offer for his signature this summer.
The 28-cap Italy international is set to become a free agent in a year’s time and has yet to agree on fresh terms at the Stadio Olimpico.
Amid concerns that the drawn-out negotiations will prove unsuccessful, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that a move away from Stadio Olimpico is now possible.
Should that be the case, it is reported that the Blues will rival Serie A champions Juventus and Inter Milan for the services of the 27-year-old midfielder, with West London giants the more likely destination as AS Roma are reluctant to sell their star player to abroad rather helping their direct rivals to strengthen their squad.
Florenzi, who has spent the past 16 years in Italy, is allegedly after £3.5m a year in wages to stay put beyond the end of next campaign.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are determined ot sign another AS Roma star Alisson Becker ahead of the next season with Thibaut Courtois is expected to leave Stamford Bridge giants following the strong interest from Real Madrid.
