Serie A outfits Fiorentina’s rising star Martin Graiciar claims that Arsene Wenger wanted to secure his signature.
The Czech player is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe and being tipped for the big things in football.
And Graiciar has revealed that at the age of 14 Arsene Wenger tried to sign him for Arsenal.
However, the 18-year-old claimed that the injury issues prevented his switch to the North London giants.
“It’s one of the best clubs in the world,” he told Italian news outlet Calciomercato.
“I arrived in London when I was 14-years-old.
“I played with the U18 team, the U20 and with the Arsenal second team.
“After a few months of trials Wenger told me that I was an interesting player and that he thought he could sign me on a permanent deal.
“At the time, however, it was not possible for me because, under FIFA rules, a club can only sign a player after who has turned 16 years old.
“Arsenal had been following me after my injury, but they didn’t sign me in the end.”
He eventually ended up with signing a professional contract with Fiorentina, and this term Graiciar, who is deployed up front, has moved to Czech side Liberec on a season-long loan deal.
Since returning to his homeland 18-year-old starlet has found the net twice in six appearances.
