CHELSEA and Manchester United reportedly face disappointment in their pursuit of Lorenzo Pellegrini in January with the Roma ace keen on to remain at Stadio Olimpico.
Pellegrini made a move to AS Roma from Serie A outfits Sassuolo during the summer transfer window believed to worth £8.9m (€10m).
And he’s hit the ground running back at Roma making 21 appearances in all competitions.
Pellegrini’s fine form has seen him linked with a move to Manchester United as well as their Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The latest reports from Italy claimed that the duo will have to wait until at least the end of the current campaign to get him on-board though.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Pellegrini has decided snub interest from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Manchester United.
And that means he’ll be staying at Stadio Olimpico as AS Roma attempt to secure Champions League football for the next season.
Tutto Mercato Web claimed that the United and Chelsea have more chance of signing Pellegrini after the end of the season.
Roma will have to make Financial Fair Play (FFP) considerations then and may need to balance the books.
That situation could force them to sell Pellegrini in the summer.
Roma were in a similar position last year and shifted Mohamed Salah to Liverpool to satisfy UEFA.
