Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to battle for the signature of Spanish defender Sergi Roberto, according to the reports.
The Catalan giant’s midfielder has been one of the top targets of Jose Mourinho during the summer transfer window, who has reportedly told the Red Devils chiefs to bring him to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old midfielder who has two-years left on his current deal with Barcelona has a £37.5m release clause.
And according to Don Balon, the Blues are believed to set to join the race for the Spanish midfielder.
The Catalan giants are scrambling to hand Roberto a new deal, which will include a higher release clause.
Defending Premier League champions have tried to sign the versatile Spaniard last summer, however, instead brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko to replace Nemanja Matic.
Speaking of the summer, Spaniard midfielder claimed that he was happy at Barca as long as he was used in midfield and not at right-back, as he had been under previous boss Luis Enrique.
“In pre-season, I wasn’t starting,” he explained.
“But now in the official matches, I am playing more
“I want to continue here and continue like this.”
Spanish midfielder’s current deal at the Nou Camp set to expire in 2019, and the Catalans could try to cash in on his signature.
