Premier League trio Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City set to battle for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been one of the best young talents in Europe and Chelsea have identified him as a replacement for Oscare who has completed big money switch to China last month, while Man United want Monaco star to replace Morgan Schneiderlin who has been on the verge to sigh for Everton.
Mourinho also handed Michael Carrick a new one-year deal and has come to rely upon the 35-year-old in the heart of United’s midfield.
However, it’s unlikely that midfielder will be offered a new deal from Mourinho and Bakayako would be an ideal addition to Mourinho’s squad.
According to the Times, the 53-year-old’s identified Bakayoko as Carrick’s long-term replacement and could accelerate a move for the midfielder this month.
United had planned to move for him this summer but interest from Chelsea and Manchester City could force the Red Devils’ hand.
Bakayoko signed for Monaco three years ago in a £5.3m deal from Rennes and are believed to rate the midfielder at around £22m.
