Juventus and Chelsea are battling it out to sign La Liga giants Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic, according to the reports from Italy.
The 27-year-old center-back had a solid 2017/18 season in La Liga, making 27 appearances as he helped them to finish as the runners-up.
Savic previously appeared to play in the Premier League for Manchester City, but struggled to secure regular first-team football for the Citizens.
He was signed for £6m back in 2011 by Roberto Mancini however, managed just 11 top-flight appearances before making the switch to Fiorentina.
Following three successful years in Italy Savic has made a move to Atletico Madrid and become stronger and more tactically astute under the manager of Diego Simeon.
Chelsea’s disappointing season has shown the club that they are in need for a solid center-back.
Gary Cahill’s form was inconsistent last season, although summer signing Antonio Rudiger and from loan returned denfender Andreas Christensen showed signs of promise.
David Luiz is expected to leave the club after the end of the world-cup and Savic seems to be an ideal replacement for his signature.
Despite the unresolved issue of the Blues’ the London club are still actively searching world-class players in the market.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich ready to splash the money for the next season in order to return his club to the Champions League.
Juventus, meanwhile, after securing another Serie A title are in the market for Stephan Lichtsteiner replacement who has joined Arsenal as a free agent.
Sky Sports report that Juve boss Max Allegri identified Savic as his no.1 transfer target in the upcoming summer transfer window.
