Chelsea are keeping tabs on Ross Barkley’s situation at Everton as Antonio Conte plans to strengthen midfield options ahead of 2016/18 season.
The 23-year-old England international midfielder has been one of the top-target for Arsenal this summer, however, now the Blues have joined the race, and the Gunners will face tough competition to sign Barkley.
Antonio Conte is planning to make five or six signing during the summer window following the Blues return to the Champions League football; they are already on the verge to complete two major signing Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Monaco’s Tiemoué Bakayoko.
And according to the Daily Telegraph, Conte now is ready to rival Arsenal to the signing of Ross Barkley.
The 23-year-old Everton’s attacker is yet to pen a new deal at Goodison Park.
And the Merseyside Blues are already preparing for life without him as Roland Koeman has signed Davy Klaassen from Ajax last week.
former Everton skipper Alan Stubbs claims that Barkley is likely to leave the Goodison Park and despite interest from Chelsea and Tottenham backed the Gunners to sign 23-year-old Englishman.
‘The fact that Ross still hasn’t signed, I think that’s the biggest indicator that his future lies elsewhere,’ he said.
‘With Tottenham, you have got Dele Alli in a similar position and, looking at Dele, he is ahead of Ross at this moment in time.
‘Looking at those teams, I think Arsenal are probably a team that he could go to.’
