All Summer long Chelsea have been heavily linked with signing Atletico Madrid striker Yannick Carrasco and some of the sources suggested that Blues were planning to renew interest for his signature during the January transfer window.
However, Spanish outlet AS earlier today reported that Atletico Madrid striker Yannick Carrasco will sign a new five-year contract with Atletico Madrid as Champions League runner-ups planning to fend off Chelsea interest for 23-year-old star.
The Blues have been keeping close tabs on the Belgian forward and regard the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Michy Batsuayi who could continue his career in Serie A after Juventus and AC Milan expressed interest for his signature.
The 23-year-old forward has joined Atletico from French side Monaco in July 2015, scored in their Champions League final defeat the last term and has made a steady improvement with them.
He has also become a regular in the Belgium squad.
Atletico already have him under contract until 2020 in a pact which includes a £35m buy-out clause but now want to increase the deal and his price.
