Chelsea are reportedly favourites to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Serie A champions Juventus this summer.
Ex-Napoli head-coach boss Maurizio Sarri is expected to be named as a new manager of Chelsea once a severance package is agreed with the Antonio Conte, and he is believed to have identified Higuain as his no.1 transfer target at London club.
Sarri worked with Argentine forward at Napoli and is keen for a reunion as Chelsea look to sign a new frontman to replace Alvaro Morata who has flopped at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Real Madrid.
Calciomercato reports that Italian giants are believed to be open to the idea of selling Argentine forward if they can agree on a deal with Inter Milan for Mauri Icardi.
However, the Italian champions are likely to demand a fee of around €70m (£61.2m) for 30-year-old forward’s services to help fund their move for his compatriot Mauro Icardi, who could cost in excess of €100m (£87.4m).
Higuain has made a switch to Juventus from Napoli back in 2016 and has since found back of the net 55 times in 105 appearances for the club across all competitions.
