Liverpool have revealed that Senegalese international forward Sadio Mane could miss the next six weeks following the hamstring injury during the international break.
African midfielder has picked up the injury in the latter stages of Senegal’s victory at Cape Verde Islands.
“Sadio Mane is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury on international duty, Liverpool FC can confirm,” revealed the reds in their statement.
“The winger was substituted 89 minutes into Senegal’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday. And it has now been confirmed that he picked up an injury during that fixture that could keep him out of action for up to six weeks.”
The 25-year-old forward has found the net for three times in the Premier League at the start of 2017/18 season.
Liverpool have enjoyed a tough start in both Premier League and Champions League competitions and losing Sadio Mane ahead of Manchester United clash will be a huge blow for Liverpool fans that hoped to bounce back with a victory to their bitter rivals.
Thus far Mane has made only four Premier League starts for Liverpool and scored three times.
