Arsenal have given up on a deal for Chelsea centre-back David Luiz, according to the reports.

The Gunners manager was up for a raid on their London rivals to lure Brazilian defender.

Brazil international defender has been out of favour following a bust-up with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and Wenger was ready to offer an escape route to David Luiz.

However, Starsport is believed that he’s now ended his chase for the Brazilian defender and looking elsewhere to strengthen his defensive options.

He’s turned away from a chase for Brazilian centre-back due to his sky-high wage demands.

West Brom defender Jonny Evans has been another option for Arsene Wenger.

David Luiz will want to play to try and win places n Brazil’s squad for the World-Cup tournament in Russia.

He’s lost his place to Andreas Christensen at Chelse, and after recovering from the knee injury, he still struggles to secure a place in Antonio Conte’s starting lineup.

Wenger is after quality options at the back and Luiz would fit the bill.

The Gunners boss has Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi as nailed-on starters with Rob Holding, Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers also competing for a start.

David Luiz have also been rumoured with a switch another Premier League giants Manchester United.
