Arsenal will have to smash their club transfer record in order to sign Everton midfielder Ross after Merseyside club slapped a £50million price tag on his head.
The 23-year-old playmaker is out of contract with the Toffees next summer and Everton boss Ronald Koeman ready to sell him as England international star refusing to commit his future with the Merseysiders.
The Toffees will sell Barkley this summer and they are demanding £50m, according to the Telegraph reports.
Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of England international playmaker and has identified him as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, whose future at Emirates stadium remains up in the air.
Like Barkley, Ozil is stalling on a new deal with the Gunners and Arsenal are preparing for the worst scenario.
Everton are determined to recieve the similar fee to the sale of Ross Barkley as they did it with John Stones to Manchester City last summer if he pushes to leave.
Ironically, Arsenal’s record signing remains Mesut Ozil after the German’s £42.5m, however, if Wenger decides to bring Barkley to Emirates stadium he might smash the club’s record transfer fee.
