Arsenal are hopeful they can beat Everton in the transfer race for Genk’s star Sander Berge, according to reports.
The Norwegian wonderkid is generating a huge interest from Premier League this summer, with Monaco and Sevilla are also keen on to lure him away from Luminus Arena.
The 19-year-old midfielder has made 27 appearances in total for Belgian outfit Genk over the course of the campaign, where he has impressed with his ball-winning ability and a range of passing.
According to the Mirror report, Arsenal scouts have watched Berge numerous times and now planning to make a move for £18million rated player who has been recently linked with a switch to the Merseyside Blues.
‘At 18 he is already very mature. He is intelligent, reads the game well, and takes the initiative. He has the potential to become a future leader.’
The report comes amid questions over the quality of Arsenal’s current defensive midfield options.
Arsenal currently have Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin at the defensive midfield position and Berge unlikely to become a starter of the Gunners starting XI, however, will have opportunity to step up his game and convince Wenger to give him a chance.
