Arsenal have been handed a huge transfer boost in their pursuit of Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri after French club confirmed their intentions to offload their two star players this summer.
Arsene Wenger has been interested in a move for a French midfielder, who has £36million release clause in his current deal.
At this stage, Arsenal are unwilling to match that fee and they hope that Nice will lower the price for Seri.
And French club’s president Jean-Pierre Rivère has revealed that selling two star players this summer will be a priority in order to bring several good players and fight for Champions League football.
‘There should be three or four more arrivals, and two departures,’ he told L’Equipe.
‘We want to finish these as soon as possible, but certain cases take more time than others.
‘I think we will manage because these last ones should be finalised faster than those from last year.’
The Gunners face competition from their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the 26-year-old midfielder, while Italian giants AS Roma have also expressed interest in his signature.
The Serie A giants are also not believed to be willing to meet his asking price, despite a stunning 2016/17 campaign.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has scored seven goals and provided nine assists for Nice last season and helped them to secure promotion to Champions League.
