Arsenal linked with a shock move for Mario Balotelli. The Italian striker recently returned to international action following an excellent two seasons at Ligue 1 side Nice. Under new Azzurri manager Roberto Mancini, the 27-year-old started his first game for Italy in four years. He also found the net his first international goal since finding the back of the net against England.

Italy international midfielder has spent the last two campaigns at Nice but is a free agent heading into the summer. The Gunners are working hard on new contract following Unai Emery’s arrival as the North London club new head-coach.

Arsenal are close to secure services of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, while Stephan Lichtsteiner also finalised switch to Emirates stadium.

Balotelli had experience in England with both Manchester City and Liverpool. At City, he had solid enough returns, but his ego was an unstoppable fiend.

The 27-year-old forward has managed to reinvent himself since joining the French outfits, scoring 43 goals in 66 appearances.

However it has been claimed that former Man City forward is holding out for a move back to Italy rather than a return to the Premier League, and the forward’s agent Mino Raiola reportedly held talks with Serie A club.
