Arsenal are reportedly confident that German world-cup winner midfielder Mesut Ozil will sign a new long-term contract with the Gunners.
The 28-year-old playmaker has one year remaining on his current deal and being in negotiations with the club over a contract extension.
The reports suggest that former Real Marid midfielder is keen on to double his £140,000 a-week wages.
The Gunners have held firm in the discussions and Wenger has made it clear that he would not sell Ozil and Sanchez this summer despite only one year remaining on their deals.
According to The Sun, Ozil’s representatives were in search for a new club. However, they have failed with their attempts, and now Arsenal are confident that German will agree £225,000 a week salary.
Ozil missed last weekend’s Community Shield game due to injury problems, however, but took a part in the Gunners Premier League opener game against Leicester City on Friday night.
Arsene Wenger’s side managed to secure three points in a dramatic way beating the Foxes 4-3 at Emirates Stadium, however, Mesut Ozil has failed to make any impact
